Flower Lamp

I found this item to be quite interesting for the energy-minded. It is essentially a lamp that opens or "blooms" and closes dependent upon how much energy is being used. Its practical use, other than illumination, is to serve as a visual reminder for the household's occupants to conserve electricity. However, the additional bonus of it being a really cool oddity doesn't hurt either. Check it out at the Swedish Interactive Institute.

Pair of West German Space-Age Ashtrays

Being a non-smoker myself, I usually don't take the time to consider ashtrays in general, much less those that are West German or even space-age. However, there is something about these orange, oddly-shaped items that grabbed my attention. It could be that there are two of them, and I am a sucker for symmetry. Mahogany Decanter with 8 Goblets

Just to let you know a little about me, I have a great affinity for items that add an "Old World" touch to my home, which is what attracted me to this wooden decanter. Both it and its goblets are made of mahogany and are carved in a way that has a nicely nostalgic feel to it. Now, this is supposed to be a decorative set (the eight goblets are included with the decanter); however, having a price of $95, I could see myself using it with friends and family for an occasional celebration.
